SPEED LIMIT

melody metal

somewhere around 1980 two then upcoming metal bands combined their driving forces and called themseves SPEED LIMIT. a name that was taken from bon scott´s lyrics to "highway to hell" ("no stop signs ...."). austria in the early 80ies was a good place for heavy metal! there was no MTV, hardly possibilities to visit live gigs of major bands... so it was no  wonder that  those bands that really knew how to play got high attention. SPEED LIMIT became one of the leading acts. after the selffinanced debut lp "unchained" (1986) record companies from vienna headhunted for the hardrock stormwind from salzburg. "the prophecy" (1988) pushed SPEED LIMIT to higher places including video airplay, european tours, releases in germany, netherlands, canada, japan etc.

1990 the band recorded a powerfull follow up - but due to problems with the record company it was never released oficially.

"perfect inspiration" (1992) was the next and last official album of the metal pioneers from salzburg. In 1995 the band activity faded out. the members of the different line ups are still good friends so there might be a chance of a comeback someday...
